Noted for helming The United Front's family of brands - Goodfoot, Ransom & Nomad as well as the Stussy Canadian chapters, Matt George has provide authentic and inspired insight that has shaped the face of street wear and retail. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Matt George for over a decade, and from the moment I met him with a station wagon filled with sneakers (a wild story) we bonded over our mutual love for footwear, fashion and retail. Fast forward from when we were single man with no kids, to now young fathers with stylish sons walking the streets and representing the next generation, the newly minted AKID Brand is Matt’s latest venture.
Alongside his talented wife Ashleigh Dempster, with whom he married in 2010, the couple were inspired to create AKID by their two young boys. Akid is a unisex line of handcrafted footwear presented in vivid iconic silhouettes. Carefully considered design, thoughtfully planned materials and deftly executed construction, the AKID Brand assortment is a poignant entrance into a marketplace filling a vacancy for stylish childrenswear. The collection is crafted for kids 2-8 years old and offers a series of three shoe styles dubbed, “Jasper,” “Anthony,” and “Atticus.” Keeping the brand very family-focused, all of the collaborations, campaigns, and models are friends and family. In fact, each shoe model is named after a child the couple knows personally.
